Final My Fasting Journal To Lose Weight and Improve My Health Day 4

Day 4 of my fasting. This is my last day of straight fasting. I have a maintenance program I'll tell you about at some entry point today. Continuing my fasting journal so you may decide if fasting is the right thing for you to lose weight and get healthier. The more I research fasting the more I see the benefits of fasting, not just in weight loss, but cleansing the body and having more energy.

I stepped on the scale this morning

I now weigh 186.8lbs! Having started at 198 that's not too bad. Now for full disclosure. I wasn't always that good at weighing myself in as little clothing as possible. I weighed myself this morning in my underwear with no shirt on before drinking any water after going to the bathroom. Water weighs a lot in case you don't know that.

Had a little hunger pang. Drank some coconut water .

I Texted a Friend Who Went on a 3 Day Fast Here's What He Said

Watery runs man
Cramps back
And body
Add some tartar or magnesium
Make sure to take in some salt
As you detox will help you recover
But pretty much not hungry

My friend is not a doctor, but he is very good at research. I continue to suggest seeing a health professional before fasting.

I did not experience the problems with bowel movements or cramps in my back my friend mentioned. I have experienced some stomach discomfort aside from hunger pangs which I pretty well ignored. That might be a martial arts thing. For full disclosure it did concern me a bit since it was diverticulitis that put me in the hospital back in June.

The cramps were probably prevented by drinking coconut water since it gave me the electrolytes I wouldn't have received with straight water fasting. Just a guess. I was a health minor in college but, I am not a doctor.

My maintenance plan

I plan on water fasting every Sunday. Another lesson I'm learning as I go into my final day in my 4 day fast is not to eat due to a triggered event. Such as getting home from teaching school for example. Am I tired or hungry?

Bedtime Day 4 of My Fasting for Health and Weight Loss

I stepped on the scale wearing very little and weighed 186.4lbs. You may recall I started at 198lbs. I believe this slowing down of weight loss means I cleansed my system. I did a cleanse a few years ago and lost weight quickly, then the weight loss slowed down.

This is why companies can brag about things like losing 10lbs in a week. It's because you're getting all the garbage out of your body. Once that's gone the weight loss slows down.

Final Entry - Unless I think of something else of course

I step on the scale on day five which means later I can eat! Anyway, I weighed 185.2lbs. To me, this confirms my theory that I had cleansed my body of the garbage in my system. The weight loss is slowing down.

Afterward, I had my protein and vegetable powder drink.

Things I've learned during my fast

STOP EATING UNLESS I'M HUNGRY!

Quit eating when I'm not hungry any longer.

DUH!

People eat for so many reasons other than being hungry. As an expert in behavior management I should have analyzed my own behaviors better. If I would have being overweight would have never been a problem. I still workout with martial arts so even at being overweight I'm in better shape than most overweight people, but that's no excuse. I need to be harder on myself than anyone else would.
